Savings Bonds
Your Credit Union is an issuing agent for Series EE and Series
I U.S. Savings Bonds.
Savings Bonds represents a loan made to the United States. Bonds
are registered securities back by the full faith and credit of the
United States; they cannot be sold or used as collateral.
Series EE Savings Bonds are accrual type bonds and are purchased
at a discount.
Series I Savings Bonds are accrual type bonds that are purchased
at face amount. Series I Savings Bonds are inflation-indexed savings
securities designed to protect investor's purchasing power.
Series EE and Series I Savings Bonds are available in face value
denominations of $50, $75, $100, $200, $500, $1,000, $5,000 and
$10,000. Series EE Savings Bonds are sold at 50% of face value.
Series I Savings Bonds are sold at 100% of face value.
Series EE Savings Bonds are limited to an investment of $15,000
(issue price) - $30,000 (face amount) - per person per calendar
year. Series EE Savings Bonds registered in the names of two persons
as co-owners may be allotted to the holdings of either co-owner
or split between them so that no more than $30,000 (face amount)
in EE bonds purchased in one calendar year may be attributed to
one co-owner.
Series I Savings Bond purchases are limited to an investment of
$30,000 (face value) per Social Security Number (SSN), per calendar
year. The Series I Savings Bonds purchase limit is computed separately
from the limit on Series EE Savings Bond purchases.
